the real life story of actor and activist, george takei; his choldhood during ww2 and the years he spent in an american internment camp- a glimpse into one of the atrocities that american has inflicted on people of color.
i like that it specifically named and shamed the people directly involved with passing the bills / legislations that made these camps a reality.
the message of america being great because of our democracy is hard to digest with the current happenings around the world that the usa is directly aiding to (gaza, cuba, congo). i don't agree with this notion. even with massive outcry, our words mean little. it feels as if we as a society have no say in what we want our government to do.
thats the only gripe i have with this book.
the art is beautiful and adorable. i love how cute and expressive they made the children!
